Description
Transforming a building from the 1970s means changing its image, which is often negative in the eyes of residents. To move on from disenchantment to the pleasure of living in this type of accommodation, architectural and functional qualities have to be surpassed, just as thermal performance has to be improved. Despite being 150 meters long, the imposing scale of the building is replaced by a more rhythmic, rather than monolithic, approach. The intrinsic qualities of the existing building are enhanced - vertical dynamics, differentiation of volumes and heights, full-width bays, and loggias for each flat - while at the same time giving the façade a facelift. Sliding shutters in front of the balconies and loggias to the east and west improve summer comfort and give a differentiated, vertical view of these spaces from the street. The perforations in the golden anodized aluminum filters poetically echo the shapes of the clouds photographed during our first site visit.
